    Initial Situation

    A world-known actor in the pharma-industry with the headquarter in Switzerland, was facing some challenges in winning a contract, because the project manager they have chosen for that project, was not in the possession of the internationally recognized certification Project Management Professional (PMP®). Although she had over 10 years of experience, for their client, the certification was the guarantee of having a skilled and efficient project manager leading the project. Her line manager and the HR director decided to approve and finance the certification process and asked her to find a training institution which would be able to give her the most appropriate training, lead her to successfully passing the exam and ultimately obtaining the certification.

    The specific requirements were:

    Uncomplicated access to training material

    Training and communication language should be English

    Trainer support until the exam

    Why STS was chosen:

    STS offers a public course for the PMP® certification preparation in English. There are around 14 courses all over the year either face-to-face in Zurich and in Geneva, or candidates can also join virtually. STS being an Authorized Training Partner from PMI®, is able to provide training courses to prepare for the exam and works with coaches who have over 15 years of experience in the exam preparation and are all PMI® certified trainers.

    After a first contact, the candidate was able to get all information on the course, the roll-out and the costs. The most interesting aspect for her, was that she would have access to digital learning tools, so she could study at her own pace in between classes. The course consists of 4 days of face-to-face training split into 2 sessions with around 3 weeks in between. This was ideal as she was able to do the course and obtain the certification within one month.

    Current situation

    Thanks to the training, the candidate was able to successfully pass the certification and the company won the offer. She is now managing this huge project confidently and applies all the aspects she learned through the training in her daily work. Since then, the company sent 2 more candidates to the STS public course and is now thinking about certifying all their project managers by organizing an in-house course.
