Introduction to Agile/Hybrid Project Management

Elements of Agile Project Management approaches increasingly enter into all kind of project environment, sometimes in combination with existing plan-based approaches. We help you to understand Agile project management and to combine it with predictive approaches.  

Understanding Agile PM

The course provides a good overview of agile project management approaches and how they are applied in practice. It provides a comprehensive understanding what agile means and how it can be integrated in a project environment.  

Finding The Appropriate Approach

In addition, the course will also look at how agile and plan-based project management approaches can work together and how the advantages of each approach can lead to an effective hybrid project management. With exercises, case-studies or company-internal examples, the course participants will engage in applying hybrid PM approaches.

Methodology

The course can be delivered as a blended learning approach including self-study and an interactive instructor-led seminar or as a instructor-led course.  

  1. Kick-off meeting to launch the training and to introduce to the different phases and tools 
  2. Self-study phase with digital learning contents and accompanied by a distant coach 
  3. Instructor-led workshop with practical examples, case studies and exercises.  

This learning topic is highly customizable to the specific project environment of a company and the nature of their projects.

  1. Particularities of Agile approaches 
  2. Planning – critical elements: user stories, backlog, backlog, and sprint planning 
  3. Executing – critical elements: sprints, daily scrum, retrospective and feeding back to backlog 
  4. Roles and responsibilities in agile project teams 
  5. Interfaces with predictive PM approaches 
  6. Models of integrating agile and plan-based approaches.
